I am an English teacher and have been doing a project with year 8 students about their fears - my strangest one was a student who has a fear of pies. Apparently a joke was played on him as a very small child where someone put their hand up through a hole in a table and it popped out from the pie and scared him - since then he's had an irrational fear of pies. I'd be very interested to find out if there is a proper scientific name to apply to this one?!!
