Fear of putting my hands in dark holes - I've had this fear since I was very young... I put my hand inside a shoe without looking, and out of the shoe crawled a swarm of earwigs. (small bugs with pincers) eeek! I'm not afraid of the dark, or insects, or holes if they're lighted, just when they're all combined! (maybe it should be called cavuminubilaphobia, since the latin word for cavity is cavum, and dark is nubil? *shrug*)
I was so suprised to find that I am not alone, thank God for the web. My phobia falls into the catagory of fear of holes or clusters. I have been this way as long as I can remember. I told my family about it when I was a kid (I'm 22 now) and boy did they get a kick out of that. I have been the butt of many jokes ever since( they're real comedians I'm tellin' ya) We have always called it "fear of holes". I am affected by the same things the others mentioned in the clusters and holes submissions. My husband and mother have been harrassing me with the idea of going to see this new sci-fi movie that's coming out it's called HOLES! What are they crazy, an entire movie about holes , sounds like hell to me. So thanks for your forum for discussing the quirks that make us unique. I wouldn't call it a fear so much as I am grossed out by holes in flesh or meat products. However, Swiss cheese does not bother me. Nor do Honey combs don't bother me. Like others on your sight, I too have had my phobia since I was little. And probably this fear kept me from becoming a doctor because I can not stand to see any kind of cut on the human body. Once in awhile there will be a none flesh/meat item with holes in it that will bother me. Recently I saw a top that had various sizes of holes and it made my skin crawl. I think it was because it was flesh (pink/rose) colored that did it to me. So is there a name for this phobia? I am glad to know that others have a similar phobia.
I have this fear of holes, and when ever i think of holes, my skin crawls and i get all intchy. I've had it aslong as i can remember...sometimes i rub myself crazy, and i cant get those stupid holes out of my head...holes are yucky. my mom has it a bit... but me alot. i jsut think they are pretty gross, and spiders are worse.
I LOVE your website my entire life I thought I was just some kind of freak for getting grossed out by holes!!! I am so happy to hear that there are others out there like me! I don’t know what it is about holes but they make my skin crawl!! For a class in at school we had to watch the Disney movie "Holes" and I thought I was going to die it was the most horrible thing I have ever seen!! My entire class thought I was crazy because every time they showed the holes I would freak out!! I am happy to hear that I am not alone!!!
I have a fear of holes. I cannot find one thing about that. I think it's because when I was younger I saw a worm of some sort crawl out of coral, but I'm not sure, all I know is I HATE holes! Bee hives, coral, any little holes that things can crawl out of, or even if there's no bugs and something just falls out of a hole, like a child with a runny nose. I can't stand it. It drives me crazy!
I also have a fear of holes, as in wells. Once I looked down a well exhibit at a Ripley’s Believe it or not and with the use of mirrors they had a woman’s face looking back up at you from about 30’ down. My hands froze to the side, I lost my breath, tears began to run down my face, I couldn’t make a sound and my mother had to forcibly remove me. I think my worst attacks of fear are when I come upon one when I’m not expecting it…like the well thing.
Hiya! I really couldnt believe when i typed into a search engine "phobia of holes" that i actually found a website with others like me... It so strange that it seems to be passed down through families my elder and younger sister have the same problem. My main fears is small clusters of tiny holes or holes with something in them that i want to poke or cant stop looking at. Its churning my stomach thinking about one certain photo i saw of a woman who had a health problem where there were holes in her chest and maggots had infested every hole. I get the feeling like im going to faint, get all itchy or throw up when i see such things. Honeycomb, sponges, tripe and crumpets seem to do the same thing. Ive just never understood it, its not because theyre regularly placed (like the phobia decription gave on the list of this site) but that theyre there and i cant stop looking at them.

Hi, I have a horrible fear of holes. Such as holes on puma or nikes, like the air vents on shoes. also pores like deep pores and holes where you can see the edge . It makes me sick i get cold flashes and if i touch it (i havent touched one with my hand in over 8 years) I have to wash my hands with hot scaulding water. I just dont understand why anyone would want to touch them .There so disgusting.Even looking at them make me feel sick. Is there a name for this fear? ive been trying to find someone and im crying cause im not alone . is there a name for this? please help.
i have a fear of holes..i have no idea why, or what could have caused it. black holes (like in space) dont seem to bother me; one day i was walking to school, and it had just finished raining the night before, and apparently all the worms had crawled out of their "homes" and they left the most horrid sight imaginable - HOLES! i didnt notice it untill i had to tie my shoe, and i saw these awful holes! and they were everywhere! i didnt know what to do, i was on the verge of tears - no kidding! it seems that only holes that one cannot see into scare me. for example: swiss cheese does not bother i have had this phobia for many years, and at one point, i thought i had gotten rid of it, but i later found out that i wasnt. in fact - it is worse than i though it was. whenever i see a hole, i feel sick (like throwing up), and begin to cry unless i get away from the holes. and the movie Holes - TORTURE!!!
