I have a fear of cotton balls, each tmie i see one i run away from it. it may sound stupid but its true!

Hello, I have a friend who has a fear of cotton balls. Is there a name for this? I would like to help heim research this and would appreciate the name to help him.

Hi! I have a fear of cotton balls as well. I don't care about cotton on clothes....just pure cotton. I can't hear it or touch it on my hands....it drives me insane. I think it is more of a sensory issue than a phobia....

Hey, I just wanted to say that also have a fear of cotton. And like the last person said, its not really clothing or things made out of cotton, its just the pure cotton balls. Although I get freaked out when people chew on their clothing. Its the sound that the cotton makes, and texture of it, it just freaks me out and makes me sick. Everyone has found out about my fear of cotton and torture me with it. I just get this nauseas feeling and I get all panickey and flip out. The one time I actually started crying.....But I have no idea where or how the whole thing started.

I also have a fear of cotton. Not Clothing made of cotton, but just pure cotton. I don’t mind seeing it but the feel of it. It drives me crazy I get sick to my stomach, and get goose bumps just thinking of it. Having to actually touch it freaks me out. It is nice to know I am not the only one.

I have a severe phobia of cotton balls. I even hit a nurse for putting one on my arm after a shot. I can't stand the sound or texture of cotton balls. The only thing I can compare it to is nails on a black board, only a hundred times worse. I have no idea where this fear came from.

This girl i know named Carli has a fear of cotton balls. whata freak. In my hairstyling class we were learning to do manicures when i discovered that carli is a freak. Me and my friends started chasing her with cotton balls rubbing them on her and she almost cried. it was funny. she then locked herself in the bathroom for 20 minutes untill it was time to go home. I then asked carli: do you eat cotton candy and she said yes. I asked her if she wore cotton and she said yes. So if she has a real fear its kinda hard to belive.

I have a great fear of cotton balls... not the cotton in clothes i dontmind that. but if someone rubs one together or if i have to touch it icomplety freak out. almost in tears. but yet my friend think this is greatfun to torture me with it! i really wish there was a name for this fear ihave!

After reading that other people are deathly afraid of cotton, I am overjoyed. This is monumental for me as I have had a raw cotton phobia for 20 years. I am absolutely petrified of raw cotton. I can't see it or touch it, or I'll flip out. The mere thought of it gives me the shivers and leaves me with an empty feeling in my chest. I can't even look at pictures of raw cotton balls or my body cringes. Yes, I can use Q tips but cotton balls are out of the question. Halloween and Christmas are especially hard holidays as their decoration involves the worst kind of cotton: pulled apart to look like webs and a lot of it. I'm glad there are other people out there with this terrible fear as I thought I was a real freak (maybe I still am) for the last 20 years.

I thought I was the only one! All my life I have been afraid of cotton balls. I can't be near them; just thinking about them makes my skin crawl. They make an awful noise when you squeeze them... it's the most horrible feeling. I can't use Q-tips or coton balls to remove nail polish, I have to use a sponge. It's rather embarassng at the doctor's office after getting blood drawn, because I have to request a tissue or gauze instead of the typical cotton ball. I just can't stand them.

cotton balls: im glad to see im not alone on this one. they make a noise when their rubbed together or pulled apart. im afraid theyre going to get stuck in my throat and suffocate me.

I too have an unusual fear of cotton. My wife laughs at me whenever I ask her to get the cotton out of the medicine bottles. I think my fear of cotton started when I was younger and my grandmother gave me a piece of Angel Food Cake only to find out that somehow a piece of cotton made it into the cake. I was chewing on it until I got this horrible feeling of my teeth and tongue against the stringy cotton. Since then I haven't been able to even touch a cotton ball or oddly enough eat Angel Food Cake. I wonder if there is a name for the fear of Angel Food Cake?

I so knew I couldn't be the only one afraid of cotton balls! How could I be those blessed little things scare the heck out of me! I'm see a lot of similarities with your other Cottonophbia posts. I can handle a cotton blend like in clothes but put me near a straight up cotton ball and I get chills down my spine and my jaw clinches up. I too know the agony of having a headache and a brand new bottle of aspirin and no one around to dispose of the cotton standing between you and a pain free noggin. I need to have my wisdom teeth pulled in a few months and I am completely petrified. Not of the needles or the pain or even being put to sleep...no it's the fact that I will wake up with obscene amounts of cotton packed into my dry swollen mouth! Does this have a name? I feel very admit that it is a true phobia. Thanks for letting a girl derail!

Hello! I cannot express to you the relief I felt when I discovered that there were other people out there with the same fear of cotton that I have. As long as I can remember, cotton (seeing it being pulled apart, taking it out of medicine bottles, ect.) has made my stomach turn and my skin crawl. I have never shared this with anyone, including my family, because I thought it was just me. It's really freeing to know I'm not alone in this cotton terror. I think it started, for me, because my Mom used to make me wear those anklet-socks with the cotton foo-foo balls on the heel, and those things would drive me nuts. I don't know, but whatever it is, I'm happy to know I'm not alone. I find that putting on a pair of gardening gloves and looking away helps, when opening a fresh bottle of aspirin and removing the ungodly packing material. That's how I've managed, anyhow. i'm afraid of cotton balls. My friends, parents, and the rest of my family all think it's ridiculous, but i really am afraid of them. I'm not afriad of cotton - like clothes or sheets or towels or even Qtips. Just cotton balls. My friends have attacked me twice with cotton balls. The first time they thought i was joking but when it happened again they realized i wasnt. I start to hyperventilate and cant do anything but curl up in the fetal position and rock back and forth and sob uncontrollably. i hate the way they look and feel and smell and i can now say i hate the way they taste. Once i was usrronded by so many cotton balls i counldnt move and someone picked me up out of them and had to move me. Is there a name for this? If not there should be.

I also have a fear of cotton balls. I'm not really scared of them I just can't touch them with my hands or fingers. I can get a pedicure and have someone else touch me with them as long as it is not on the palm of my hands or fingers. I have to take the cotton out of medicine bottles with a pencil or have a friend remove it. Just thinking about cotton balls makes my teeth hurt and hands sweaty and I start rubbing them together. I sure would like to know what causes this and if there is an actual name out there for this disease. I am happy to read that I am not the only one as I have been teased about this since I was little.

I am so glad that i amm not the only one!!A bit of a relief really. It actually sends me screaming round the house liek a loon as people like to wind me up.. The worse part is when people puoll it apart in front of me..Actually is the like nails down a blackboard but much much worse... Its even the cotton buds that people clean their ears with.

i have a very odd phobia, itz the fear of cotton balls. i absolutly cant stand them! it's not the way they look, it's the way they sound. it freaks me out! when u pull them apart and just eww! my skin crawls just thinking about them. or when you rub them between your fingers, yuk! i hate thinking about it. they dont bother me when they're wet, thats the only way i can clean my ears: if i wet the cutip. all my friends tease me about it, but im glad to know that i'm not the only one who has this strange phobia.
