Hi There Maybe I'm not so wierd after all!!! I've just been looking at your list of strange phobias and felt the need to tell you of mine. By the way your e mail address is rather apt - my fear is of toilet cisterns! I have had this fear for as long as I can remember but has got worse with age. Now at nearly 30 I am still unable to touch a cistern, other than the handle to flush it. I can only use the loo if it has a low level cistern - close coupled is best, those with a flush pipe make me a bit nervous. If the lid is ajar I also get a bit twitchy, if the lid is off - forget it - I can't go into the room. High level cisterns are definately out and although white cisterns make me less fearful I still can't use the loo. In desperation I have been known to take may other half in with me!! An overflowing cistern (high or low) are unbearable as is touching any of the pipework to or from the cistern. The worse combo for me would be a big black cistern up on the wall with an overflow pipe stuck out the front like a nose. If it were overflowing into th pan you wouldn't see me for dust. I have never encountered anyone else with this phobia (most people think I'm strange) so if you find anyone else out there I would love to hear from them.
Hi again I have come up with a name for my cistern phobia. In tribute to the inventor of the flush toilet I think it should be called "Crapperophobia"
I'm also afraid of large water containers, like those drainlike things for lakes. I would also freak if i looked into a water tank.
