I am sure you have heard of triskaidekaphobia -fear of the number 13. Have you ever heard of the fear of the nubmer 666? My ex-wife is dreadfully afraid of this number. (The fear actually stems fromthe book of Revelation in the Bible, where (I think) the last verse of Chapter 13 (!) identifies this as the "number of the beast".) If a purchase at a store comes to $6.66, Teresa will purchase something else to change the amount to something else. If the last three numbers on the odometer of the car read 666, she will drive around the block to push the mileage up and off of that number. (I have wondered what she will do when the FIRST three numbers read 666!) Have you heard of this phobia? Is there a name for it?
I also have that fear. i had to quit my last job, because the number was EVERYWHERE and i just about lost it in there. i really could not handle it. it also came up a lot in math problems at my school . . .probably once a week . . . i wouldnt work those problems. i really think it may have come from attending a really out there church when i was little, but anyway, there needs to be a name for this. . . . because i hate having to explain it.
